What is Propolis?
Propolis is a resin-like substance that bees collect from tree buds and process in the hive. They use it to keep the hive clean and isolated from the outside. Traditionally, propolis is used by humans for centuries in many different ways.
How is Propolis Used?
In Eastern European countries, it is common to chew raw propolis. However, there are many other ways to use propolis. At Imkergut, you will find high-dose propolis capsules, as well as various drops and skincare products containing propolis.
The Production of Propolis Drops
Our propolis drops are made using a traditional recipe in our own beekeeping operation in Bühl, Black Forest. The raw propolis we use comes either directly from our bees or from trusted beekeepers and undergoes regular quality checks.
To produce our mother tincture, the raw propolis is placed in large barrels with 70% alcohol and stirred regularly over several weeks. This process extracts the fat- and water-soluble components of propolis. Finally, the mother tincture is filtered and bottled.
To create an alcohol-free solution, suitable for those who wish to avoid alcohol, we use a special process to remove the alcohol while preserving the full effectiveness of the propolis.
