What is pollen?
It is now widely known that bees play an irreplaceable role in the pollination of plants. However, when they fly from flower to flower, they not only collect nectar for honey and ensure that the plant world is preserved: The fine pollen also gets caught in their fur coat. The industrious bees enrich this with nectar and enzymes, making it malleable. The result is the so-called "pollen panties" that can often be seen on bees flying around - small yellow, orange, red or blue-violet colored lumps on their legs. Worker bees on "outside duty" transport the small pollen grains into the hive, while the "inside duty" then receives the cargo. They store them in the honeycombs of the hive, as the pollen is an important part of the food for the brood. How does the beekeeper harvest the pollen?
To collect pollen from bees, beekeepers attach so-called pollen traps to the entrance hole of the beehive. The fine-meshed grids catch some of the pollen that the bees collect. Our beekeepers are careful not to take too much pollen or honey away from the bees, as this would weaken the entire colony. Only a healthy, strong bee colony benefits the beekeeper.Flower pollen as part of your diet
Pollen can be eaten pure or mixed with other foods. If you are already familiar with flower pollen, you can, for example, integrate a tablespoon of our German pollen into your daily diet. If you have no experience with pollen, you should start with just one teaspoon a day and slowly increase the amount. It is advisable to soak the pollen in liquid at least one hour before eating or overnight; if not, the pollen should always be chewed for a long time. Our tip: The small pellets can be soaked in a glass of milk or orange juice, they are also a perfect and attractive addition to muesli or porridge. A teaspoon of honey makes the whole thing particularly tasty. Why buy German flower pollen?
You can buy our German flower pollen in a 125 gram jar or a 250 gram jar. The Bioland-certified pollen comes from Baden-Württemberg and has been carefully harvested and dried to preserve its value. The advantage of German pollen compared to pollen from abroad is that it consists of pollen that we are used to here. It can therefore be better tolerated, particularly by people who are easily hypersensitive or allergic to foreign plants. We take great care not to deprive the bees of too much of their valuable food so as not to weaken the colonies unnecessarily. German pollen is therefore a real rarity.Important information on the use of pollen
Flower pollen is a food supplement and therefore belongs to the food category. Food supplements are not a substitute for a balanced, varied diet and a healthy lifestyle. The recommended daily intake (one tablespoon) should not be exceeded. Allergic reactions may occur when taking flower pollen, as with any other food. If allergic reactions occur, please stop taking the pollen immediately.Keep out of the reach of children.
